Our Education
Painting in the Art Room We are committed to nurturing the whole child: physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally. We promote opportunities for children to develop as individuals and to be part of a stimulating educational environment where their skills are enhanced. Our model of education is based on children learning through play in open-plan classrooms. Here, free-play and structured, teacher-directed activities are carefully balanced and designed to lead your child towards his or her full potential.

We believe in a clear moral code of politeness, fairness, sharing and taking turns. This is relayed to your child as our 'Five Golden Rules'
  1. Good Behaviour.
  2. Good Manners.
  3. Good Listening Skills.
  4. Good Helpers.
  5. Good Friends.
Indoors you will find: Working on a construction
  • The Art Room
This area is extensive and provides opportunities to work daily with different media, which includes painting, drawing, clay, play dough, a three-dimensional construction activity, a collage activity and a technique. Individual creativity is encouraged.
  • The Resource Room
The Information Table provides various forms of information regarding the current focus.
The House Corner is a small version of a kitchen and bedroom and includes many dress-up clothes that promote role-play.
The Book Corner is used throughout the day. Here children "read" non-fictional and fictional books to gain knowledge.
The Craft Table provides opportunities for the children to make "items" relevant to the focus.
The Block Corner is well established with a large variety of wooden blocks, which stimulate all our "aspiring engineers".
Building in the Sand Pit Outdoors you will find:
An extensive lawn area which includes wooden jungle gyms, climbing frames, a tree house, swings, a boat, a thatched sand/water play area and woodwork tables. The movement exploration equipment and a very busy cycle track enhances the children's physical and social development. This area is supervised at all times.

Teacher-Directed Activities
Special Time provides the opportunity for the teacher and the children to exchange news and ideas while sitting on their group mat. This also includes extensive discussion regarding the current focus as well as "show and tell".
Snack Time takes place on our verandah and we ask parents to provide a healthy snack for their child. The teacher takes this opportunity to teach her group about good table manners.
During Music or Movement Ring the teacher encourages her group to move freely and rhythmically to various types of music. Singing during this time is thoroughly enjoyed and new songs are constantly being introduced.
Story Time is a time to relax and "wind down" at the end of a very busy day.

A comprehensive semester report (June and November) and thorough feedback interview with the group teacher covers the motor development, perceptual abilities, language, early numeracy and literacy skills as well as the socio-emotional development of your child.
